7 Soulful Ways to Refresh Your Home for Spring

Spring is here, and with it comes that natural urge to open the windows, shake off the winter heaviness, and breathe new life into our homes. A spring refresh doesn’t have to be complicated or costly. Sometimes, it’s the smallest shifts that create the biggest impact.

Here are 7 soulful tips to help you welcome the new season with ease and intention.

1. Declutter
After winter’s slower pace and all that time spent indoors, spring is the perfect time to clear out what no longer serves you. Tidy your spaces, let go of the excess, and create room for what feels fresh and aligned. Think of it as an energetic reset—out with the old to make space for the new.

2. Seasonal Pillow Swap
One of the easiest ways to shift the mood of a space? Pillows. Rotate your throw pillows seasonally—think cozy wools and velvets for winter, then swap in breezy linens or cottons for spring and summer. Lighter fabrics and brighter tones instantly lift the energy of a room and make your space feel fresh again.

3. Layered Rugs
Try layering rugs to add depth and seasonal flexibility to your space. Start with a neutral base like jute or sisal, then layer a patterned or colorful rug on top. This top layer can be switched out seasonally for a quick, high-impact update. It's an easy way to refresh a room without starting from scratch.

4. Neutral Foundations = Flexibility
When your foundational pieces—like the sofa, drapery, and base rug—are neutral, it gives you the freedom to play. You can easily shift the vibe of your space with seasonal accessories, art, or textiles without needing a total redesign every time the seasons change.

5. Bring in Fresh Greenery
Nothing says spring like bringing the outdoors in. Add a new houseplant, treat yourself to a fresh bouquet, or clip some branches from your yard and place them in a beautiful vase.

Greenery adds life, color, and movement to your home. (If you're local to Pacifica, check out HAUS Pacifica—one of my favorite spots for plants and more!)

6. Let the Light In
Seriously—wash your windows. You'll be amazed at how much brighter your space feels. Pull back heavy drapes and let that natural light pour in. You might even consider swapping out dark or heavy window treatments for something lighter and airier during the spring and summer months.
